One taken to hospital by helicopter after SUV flips in Vidor

Vidor Firefighters had to use a Jaws Of Life to get a person out of an SUV following an accident Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on South 105 at Mansfield Ferry Road.

Vidor Police Sgt. Bost told 12News it appears the driver was turning off of Mansfield Ferry Road onto South 105 and lost control of the SUV for an unknown reason.  The driver overcorrected and the SUV rolled over into a ditch.

Sgt. Bost said the driver, identified only as a male, 51, had head and neck injuries.  He was taken to the hospital by air ambulance.

The driver was the only one in the SUV and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Sgt. Bost said the accident remains under investigation.
