Girls charged in attack of Beaumont mail carrier

Beaumont police say they have arrested three girls in connection with an attempted robbery of a postal worker.

Police say the girls, ages 12, 14 and 16, were booked into the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Facility on attempted robbery charges. The charges are a third degree felony.

Beaumont Police Sgt. Rob Flores says the girls implicated themselves during questioning.

The attack happened Friday, July 5 in the 2100 block of Ives.

The female postal carrier was on her daily route when police say she was approached by three girls. Police say they asked the postal worker for money and keys.  When the mail carrier didn't give in, they began beating her.

The mail carrier was treated on the scene and released.
