UPDATE: Beaumont police release name of homicide victim
A Beaumont Police spokesperson Monday released the name of a man whose body was found Sunday. The spokesperson also said officers have begun a homicide investigation.
The spokesperson said the victim is Eleazar Lopez, 42, of Beaumont.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday police were called to a mobile home park in the 6700 block of College Street. A witness told police that there was a body behind the mobile home park. Officers, with the help of Beaumont EMS, determined that the man, identified Monday as Lopez, was dead.
Injuries to Lopez's body led Detectives to determine the man was possibly the victim of homicide.
Detectives are still in the process of identifying and interviewing potential witnesses.
Detectives will also attend the autopsy that is scheduled for tomorrow.
The police spokesperson said officers want anyone with information about the homicide to call Beaumont Crime Stoppers at 409-833-8477 (TIPS.) Callers will not have to give a name and if the information leads to the identity and arrest of the person responsible for the homicide, will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
