12 pit bulls seized in Beaumont, court date set to determine fate of dogs


Beaumont Animal Services Officers seize 12 Pit Bulls in Beaumont's north end Thursday June 27.

Around 8 p.m.. Animal Services Officers were called to 3650 Lorilee St. where Beaumont Police were serving an arrest warrant. Upon arrival, Animal Services Officer Bolling found 12 pit bulls, all suffering from neglect and several had fresh fighting scars. All dogs were seized and are awaiting a civil seizure hearing.

A seizure hearing is pending for Friday, July 5 at 11 a.m. in Justice of the Peace, Dollinger's Court at the County Court House.  A statement from Beaumont Animal Services says the hearing will determine whether or not there is enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges against the owners as well as determine the fate of the dogs.
