UPDATE: Authorities release name of Beaumont woman killed in Louisiana crash

Posted: Updated:

Louisiana state police have released the name of a Beaumont woman killed in an accident on Interstate 10, east of Breaux Bridge.

She was 24-year-old Grace Lee, a graduate of Kelly High School in Beaumont.

A spokesperson told 12News the victim was one of four women in their twenties in a car heading eastbound on I-10. Friends of the victim tell 12News the four were headed to New Orleans for another friend's bachelorette party.

The accident happened in St. Martin Parish at around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

A State police spokesperson said a pickup, driven by 30-year-old Angel Zermeno of Brownsville, was on I-10 pulling two other vehicles.  The third vehicle, a 2005 Jeep Liberty, broke free, crossed the median and smashed into the oncoming car with the four Beaumont women.

Lee was in the back seat and was thrown out of the car.  Investigators say she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities say the three other women in the car, including driver Alycee Henley, were hurt, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

Charges are pending against the driver of the pickup that was towing the runaway car.

Troopers do not suspect impairment as a factor in this crash, but toxicology samples were taken and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
