Nederland PD still investigating homicide on N. 27th street

Posted: Updated:

Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Marc Derouen says preliminary autopsy results show a seven inch cut to the neck is what killed 67-year-old Patricia Dale Hebert.

Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush says Hebert's neighbor found her dead in Hebert's 27th street home just before 11 a.m. Sunday.

Judge Derouen says the cut severed Hebert's jugular vein. An investigators told 12News the preliminary autopsy results reveal cuts to her forearms suggest a struggle before Hebert was killed.

The police department has interviewed family members and witnesses. Officers say there is a person who stayed with Hebert from time to time who has been interviewed but is not being identified as a person of interest.
