Police working to identify killer in Nederland homicide

Posted: Updated: May 19, 2013 01:09 PM CDT

The Nederland police department is investigating its second homicide of the year.

Police Chief Darrell Bush told 12News a neighbor found Patricia Dale Hebert, 67, of Nederland, inside her home.  Chief Bush said the victim's throat had been cut.

Hebert's body was found just before 11 a.m. Sunday morning at her home in the 1500 block of North 27th Street.  She was the only person who lived at the house and there are no known witnesses.

Chief Bush told 12News Monday morning that officers do not yet have a suspect.

The city's first homicide of the year happened on April 10 in the 1500 block of South 27th Street.  Joseph Arredondo, 26, of Nederland, is accused of shooting and killing his mother, Hollie Arredondo, 55, at Nederland's Hillcrest Apartment Complex.

Arredondo is in the Jefferson County Jail on a $2 million bond.

Chief Bush said the two homicides are not connected.
