Two taken to hospital following wrong-way driver accident on Rainbow Bridge

A police spokesperson told 12News two people were seriously injured following a multi-vehicle accident Friday night on the Rainbow Bridge in Port Arthur. 

The collision included two pick-up trucks and a tractor trailer. 

Police shut down the bridge for about two hours while crews worked the accident.

The police spokesperson said a driver in a Chevy pickup was going the wrong way on the bridge and hit a Nissan pickup head-on, then collided with an 18-wheeler.

The drivers of the pickups were taken to the hospital.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

The police spokesperson said he believes alcohol was involved in the accident.
