Beaumont bank robbed by man with knife


Beaumont police are searching for a man who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank located at 4405 Dowlen Road near Parkdale Mall in Beaumont.  The Robbery happened shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.

No injuries have been reported.

Witnesses told police the robber originally said in a joking manner, 'give me a stack of $100's."  When the teller laughed, the man said "I'm not joking.  He then pulled out a pocket knife, jumped the counter and took cash.  He then ran to the parking lot where he got into a 'reddish older-model' Volvo. 

The robber then drove toward the Applebee's.

Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley told 12News the robber is a white male with slicked-back hair and a medium build.  Witnesses told police he appeared to be in his late 30's.  He was wearing a black zip-up jacket with a collar, jeans and tennis shoes. One witness described the robber's footwear as work boots, but later decided they were dark tennis shoes.  The witness said the robber did not have any facial hair and described him as looking 'scruffy.'
