Three killed in Hardin County accident

Three people are dead following a one-vehicle rollover accident in Hardin County Saturday morning.

A Department of Public Safety dispatcher told 12News the accident happened just before 3 a.m. on Wheeler Road when the driver of a 1999 GMC Sierra lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The three people killed are identified as the driver Jesse Thomas, 44, of Lumberton; passenger Slayder Morris, 20 of Vidor and passenger Dylan Avery, 20, of Lumberton.  All three were pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Judge Kathy Simpson.

The next of kin of all three victims has been notified.

A DPS report says none of the victims were wearing a seatbelt.  It is not known what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Trooper Stephanie Davis said the accident is still under investigation and details will be released as it becomes available.
