The Humane Society of Southeast Texas received a large donation Tuesday. Steve Manders and the Fast Lane Convenience Stores dropped of a check for over $33,000.
The donation came about as a result of a six week-long competition between all the Fast Lane stores in the Golden Triangle to see who could raise the most money.
The Winnie location won the contest raising $6,000.
"Oh it's unbelievable. It's food for animals. It's medicine for the animals, pay checks to our employees. Since we are non-profit, we get all of our money from donations," said Humane Society Board of Directors member Keely Kinsel.
If you would like to adopt a pet, the Humane Society will be at Pet Smart in Beaumont this Saturday and Kidsfest May 4 from 9 a.m. -3 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center.
