Authorities still working to identify woman

Posted: Updated:

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is still trying to identify a woman that was found dead in a rural part of the county.

A cause of death has yet to be determined but preliminary autopsy results may be released Monday morning.

The JCSO released a sketch of the woman late Saturday in hopes that someone in the area would recognize her.

Deputy Rod Carroll says the sheriff's office has received several calls but have none have led the department to the identity of the woman.

Deputies say a man found the woman's body just after 5 p.m. Friday night in a hunting lease.

She is described as a black woman weighing about 300 pounds and standing 5'9" tall. She has graying hair and she has gapped front teeth.

If you recognize the woman in the sketch you are asked to call the sheriff's office or crime stoppers at 833-TIPS
