Refineries monitor air, find no 'off-site impact'

Total and Motiva refineries in Port Arthur say the air quality is safe following a day of flaring activity due to a power outage,  Neither company could confirm Sunday what chemicals were being burned off but say air monitoring was taking place throughout the day.

Total has submitted a report to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  Motiva expects to do so Monday morning.

It is unclear if either company will be fined.  The uncertainties is because reports are preliminary and information is still being collected,
