Beaumont pastor signs deal for reality show

A Beaumont pastor has signed a deal with a major production company to do a national reality TV show.

Lighthouse Worship Center Pastor James McAbee has signed a deal and is negotiating with national cable TV networks like A&E, History Channel and CMT.

McAbee, nicknamed the "pistol packin' preacher," assumed the name after being forced to pull a gun to protect himself from burglars.

Pastor McAbee tells a remarkable story of redemption from his early days.

"I come from the rough side of the mountain, and able to bring a perspective to people, and I think people can relate that, hey, this man has done drugs and had trouble with the law and now I'm a preacher," said McAbee.

McAbee does not know how soon production will start.
