DA's office wants more statements for Lee Elementary assault investigation

Posted: Updated:
PORT ARTHUR -

The Jefferson County district attorney's office wants more statements before it determines how it will proceed in the investigation into a possible assault at Robert E. Lee Elementary School in Port Arthur.

Last Friday, an 11-year-old student accused a teacher of assaulting him.

The Port Arthur Independent School District suspended the teacher, pending an investigation.

Constable Eddie Collins took the case to the DA's office Wednesday, but the DA wants statements from two teachers who were present at the time the incident supposedly happened.

The DA could file charges or let the grand jury decide the matter.

Constable Collins says he'll turn the case in again to the DA's office on Monday.
