Cops: Vidor man using drugs next to cop car asked them 'What's Up?'
An Orange County narcotics investigator says he was walking to his car in the parking lot of a restaurant when he noticed a man parked next to the narcotics unit using drugs. The man was quickly questioned and arrested.
Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Chad Hogan said it happened on Tuesday at a restaurant located in the 12000 block of FM 1442 in Orange County. While walking in the parking lot to their unmarked vehicle, the deputy noticed a white male seated on the passenger side of a white Dodge truck that was parked in a parking space next to the deputy's vehicle.
The deputy looked inside of the truck through the opened driver's side window at the male and saw that the male had a syringe filled with a white liquid and was about to inject the contents of the syringe into his right forearm. The male looked up and saw the deputy and said "What's up?" The deputy's then removed the male from the truck and placed him into handcuffs.
Sgt. Hogan says the substance in the syringe is believed to be Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) a Penalty Group 1 Controlled Substance.
The male was identified as Shane Lane Hite, 42, of Vidor. He was taken to the Orange County Correctional Facility. His bond is set at $2,500.00.
