New store promises to bring over 100 jobs to Port Arthur

The first T J Maxx in the Golden Triangle plans to open its doors in May bringing jobs to Port Arthur.

The store Monday began a 2-day job fair in Central Mall hoping to hire new staff to fill 100 to 150 open positions. More than 200 applications were collected in the first day of the event.

"We need more jobs here. It will bring in people and we need to build back up port Arthur's economy. Even if it's just a part time job that could lead to a full time, this is a big opportunity. As many people as they can hire here that will decrease the unemployment," said Port Arthur resident Diane Franklin.

The job fair ends Tuesday afternoon, but part-time and full-time jobs are still available
