Senate passes Keystone bill

Posted:

It was a symbolic victory for supporters of the Keystone X-L pipeline in the U-S Senate Friday.

The Senate passed a non-binding vote supporting the controversial 17-hundred mile pipeline project.

The Keystone pipeline would carry oil from Canada to refineries in the U-S.

Supporters say it will create jobs and give the U-S access to much-needed oil. But opponents say it poses a heavy risk to the environment.

President Barack Obama is expected to make a final decision on the pipeline late this summer.
