Former Florida Governor gives insight into political future

Posted: Updated:

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush who was the speaker at Thursday's Texas Energy Museum Blowout.

There is talk that Bush will be a candidate for president in 2016.

The son of former President George H.W. Bush and brother of George W. spent a short time with reporters before Thursday's fundraiser at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Bush spoke to education, immigration and energy policy reform as ways to lower the national deficit.

Bush says education is key though, the former governor made it a priority during his two terms in Florida from 1998 to 2007.

"We should make education the highest priority because in the competitive world you can't have 1/3 of your kids be illiterate. Or have freshman college students taking high school math and English," Bush said.

Bush says three months after the 2012 presidential election is too soon to decide if he will run for the white house in 2016. But he hinted that it is still in the realm of possibility.
