Former principal sues PAISD and Superintendent

Posted:
PORT ARTHUR -

Former Booker T. Washington Elementary School Principal Cynthia Jackson is suing Port Arthur Independent School District Superintendent Johnny Brown and the district for what she says is a violation of her free speech.

Jackson says she was demoted to assistant principal of Memorial High school earlier this month after she voiced concerns about the hiring of a new administrator at the elementary school.

Jackson claims the new administrator was an intimate friend of Brown, and that the woman's services were not needed.

Jackson's attorney, Larry watts, says his client is on medical leave for conditions created by the work environment.

Jackson is seeking unspecified damages and wants to be reinstated as principal.
