No injuries reported following two Beaumont house fires

Posted:

Beaumont firefighters worked two house fires within a span of only a few minutes Thursday evening.

The first fire was reported at 11:38 p.m. at a house located at 1637 Ave H in Beaumont. When firefighters arrived they found a small fire had been set on the stairs of a vacant garage apartment. The fire was quickly controlled and an arson investigator was called to the scene.

Eleven minutes later a second fire was reported at 3405 Ave C. When firefighters arrived at this scene, they found a home heavily involved with fire. The family was not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

A Beaumont Fire-Rescue spokesperson said the second fire appears to have been caused by a lantern left burning on a table due to a power outage in the area.

There was heavy fire damage to the home. The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
