ORANGE COUNTY -

One person was taken to jail and another severely injured as the result of an accident Wednesday night in the 600 block of Lakeview Road in Orange County.

Dispatchers received a call reporting the accident just after 11:30 p.m.

A trooper working the accident told 12News an early investigation shows the driver of a silver Toyota Tundra drove off of the roadway and the Toyota struck several trees.  The trooper said a passenger in the Tundra had his arm partially severed in the accident and had to be taken by air ambulance to the University of Texas Medical Branch hospital in Galveston.

12News spoke with Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Stephanie Davis Thursday afternoon.  She identified the driver as Eric Albert Corbell, 40, of Spring.

Davis said Corbell has already been charged with DWI second offense in connection with the accident.  She said charges will be upgraded to intoxication assault when the final report is filed with the District Attorney's office.

Davis said the man who was taken to the hospital, only identified as a 29-year-old from Louisiana, was in the surgical intensive care unit of UTMB when she last spoke with the hospital.

Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Deputy Chad Hogan told 12News a $10,000 bond has been set on the DWI charge.
