Neighbor catches burglar on camera using iPad

Posted: Updated:

Orange Police are looking for a burglar caught on camera. Police say a heavy-set black man wearing a white T-shirt and jeans broke into a home in the 1300 block of Pine Avenue Saturday afternoon.

A young man who only wished to be identified as "Moreaux" lives in the house, but wasn't home when it was hit. Moreaux's neighbor was able to catch the burglary on his iPad, shooting the video as the culprit departed the back door of the victim's home. Police say the burglar got in through an unlocked window and stole a TV, an Xbox and 40 video games.  Then the burglar appears to have done an odd thing. When Moreaux came home from church on Sunday, there was a box sitting on his laundry room floor. The burglar had apparently returned 15 of the stolen games.

"It appears to me from the box he left behind, it seems like he brought back only games that didn't have new stickers on them or something saying they were of newer value," Moreaux told 12News.

But Moreaux says none of his windows had been tampered with.

"Everything was in tact. The only way he could have come in was through the door," he said.

But the door was locked. After checking his key holder, Moreaux noticed a set of keys to the back door was missing.

"It has a personal sense to it, coming back again. I really want this guy caught, it's uncalled for."

Moreaux said he immediately changed the lock to his back door and plans to have a home security system installed.

Orange Police say they have seen the iPad video and are currently investigating the burglary. Police say the burglar was last seen driving away in a late 80's-early 90's model Oldsmobile Cutlass.
