Two taken to hospital after Beaumont accident

Two people received non-life threatening injuries after an accident a Beaumont police officer says  appears to have been caused when a driver ran a stop sign Thursday morning.

The accident happened just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of College Street and Amarillo.

Beaumont Police Officer Neil Mireles told 12News it appears the driver of a Red Ford Explorer that was driving southbound on Amarillo ran a stop sign and the Explorer collided with a Mazda 3.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals by Beaumont EMS.  A passenger from one of the vehicles was uninjured

Officer Mireles said the accident is still under investigation.  Any citations would be issued after the investigation is complete.
