UPDATE: One dead after rollover accident in Vidor

UPDATE: The Department of Public Safety has informed 12News that one of two people involved in a rollover accident on Interstate 10 at the 864 mile marker in Vidor Wednesday morning has died from his injuries.

Davion Shaquan Shelton, 19, of Lake Charles, was taken by air ambulance to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont after the one-car accident. Shelton was in critical but stable condition when he was taken from the accident scene, but died later at the hospital.

A Department of Public Safety Trooper told 12News that Shelton was the driver of a silver Lexus that was heading westbound when it veered off the road. Shelton overcorrected-causing the Lexus to flip.

A passenger in the car, identified as Edwarda Marie Berry, 29, of Beaumont, is listed in stable condition at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Investigators said both people were wearing a seatbelt.
