A Beaumont Police spokesperson says a man whose body was found in a burning dumpster Tuesday morning appears to have died from smoke inhalation and foul play is not suspected in his death.
Beaumont firefighters just after 2 a.m. responded to a dumpster on fire at 550 W Cardinal Drive. Firefighters quickly put out the fire and found a body inside the dumpster.
The business was closed at the time of the fire. The fire was reported by a neighbor.
The body was taken to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy as ordered by Judge Jones and the dumpster was taken to the Jefferson County Crime Lab for technicians to check the contents.
Late Tuesday afternoon officers announced that a preliminary cause of death for the victim is smoke inhalation and believed to be accidental.
The victim has been identified as a 58-year-old male. His name is still being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
