PORT ARTHUR -

A woman who police say slammed on her brakes in front of a truck because her windshield was struck by a rock has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a fatal 2012 accident.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes of Memorial Boulevard just south of Jimmy Johnson Boulevard.  Investigators determined Zola Ann Wilson, 48, of Port Arthur, was angry because a rock from an industrial truck hit her windshield. She pulled in front of the industrial truck and stopped rapidly.

Police say a white Dodge Ram 4-door truck ran into the back of the stopped industrial truck.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as Gary Naquin, 34, of Groves, was taken by medical helicopter to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.  Police were later notified by the hospital Naquin died from his injuries.

Wilson was arrested the day of the accident and charged with aggravated assault.  The charges were upgraded to manslaughter the day Naquin passed away.

Wilson Tuesday pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault.  Sentencing is set for March 18.
