A spokesperson for the Orange Police Department has informed 12News that detectives believe a body found Friday is that of a missing woman.
Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, Detectives from the Orange Police Department found the body of a woman in Newton County. Investigators believe the body to be of the missing person, Tami Higginbotham.
The body was found north of Mauriceville in a heavily wooded, hunting lease area. The body has been brought to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy.
The Newton County Sheriff's Department has joined the investigation.
