For the first time in seven months since United Airlines offered passengers air service out of Jack Brooks Regional Airport the terminal looked like a terminal should Thursday., full of excited travelers ready to catch a flight.
Thursday started with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Dozens of community businesses and citizens gathered in excitement for the new flights.
The celebration was going on outside too as the first American Eagle jet taxied through an inaugural water archway as it departed Jack Brooks.
But the first day didn't come without a few issues. Two flights were delayed arriving at Jack Brooks. Flight 2523 and 2525 both arrived about an hour behind schedule.
The airport though says those delays are not a sign of things to come.
"These things happen, they are expected at any airport but that aren't something that is a usual occurrence," Airport Director Alex Rupp said.
Rupp went on to say operations here on Jack Brooks end went smoothly and he believes the Dallas-Fort Worth airport was at fault for the delays.
Rupp was unsure what exactly caused the delays.
A spokesperson with American Airlines was unable to comment on what caused the delays.
Rupp says on his end there were no upset customers and again operations out of Jack Brooks went fine.
Just more than 90 people took advantage of the three flights out of Jack Brooks airport to DFW.
