Beaumont store closing after almost 100 years of business

Local business owners are hanging up their uniforms, retiring after almost 100 years in the business of retail.

Nights Uniform Company first opened in 1921 at its current location in the 400 block of Crockett street.

Sam Night started the business after coming to Southeast Texas from Western Russia.

Taking over the business eventually were Nights sons, Harvey and Ralph Night. Now the nights say it's time for them to retire.

The store first began selling sports wear and added the latest fashion trends and accessories in the 70's. By the early 80's the inventory changed to exclusively work clothes and safety footwear.

The store will open Tuesday at 9 a.m. and will be open 6 days a week until everything is gone. Ralph Night says he will donate some items in the store to charity.
