Interstate 10 at the Texas-Louisiana border has reopened in both directions according to a spokesperson for the Louisiana State Police.

The Interstate had to be shut down Sunday morning as crews worked to clear a truck and its cargo from an accident.

On Saturday, Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 West about one mile east of the Louisiana-Texas border in Calcasieu Parish. The crash happened when a westbound truck with an oversize load driven by Donald Wayne Richardville, 53, of Catoosa, OK traveled off the right side of the road.

Richardville was taken by air ambulance to an area hospital with moderate injuries. Impairment is not suspected and the accident remains under investigation.

The truck, which is registered to Ace Heavy Haul LLC of Mooresville, NC, was carrying a heat exchanger weighing 115,000 pounds. The total weight of the truck and cargo approaches 200,000 pounds. For this reason, a large crane had to be setup and used on the highway in order to recover the truck and its load.
