Living with Asperger's Syndrome

Posted: Updated:

Soon after the Newtown massacre that claimed 26 lives, news outlets began pointing out that the shooter may have had Asperger's Syndrome - a high functioning form of Autism.

And that led some to wonder about the propensity for violence among those with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Autism experts rushed to invalidate the notion that the school shooting and Asperger's Syndrome were somehow connected.

But the chance that people may have believed there was a connection worried some parents who have children with the condition.

Psychologists say early detection is key to helping these children.

If you believe your child may have an Autism Spectrum Disorder call your school district or doctor. They can evaluate your child to help diagnose and treat the syndrome.
