Orangefield student investigated after hit list found

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit list that was found at Orangefield High School Monday.

Orangefield Independent School District Superintendent Stephen Patterson tells 12News that a male student was removed from classes after someone found what was considered a credible threat.

According to a press release issued by the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the 15-year-old student confessed, saying it was written as a prank but did not plan on following through with the threats.

Authorities say the high school suspended the student and charges are pending.

Patterson says all parents of students who might have been directly affected by the threats were notified by the district.

Deputies are still investigating the incident.
