Almost 120 pounds of synthetic marijuana seized by Beaumont cops

Beaumont police officers say they found 117 pounds of synthetic marijuana during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

Around 12:20 a.m. a Beaumont Police Department Interdiction officer stopped a 2012 Volkswagen on Interstate 10 near the Walden Road exit.  Officers say suspicion led them to ask the driver for consent to search the car. The driver allowed the officers to search.  Officers say the found 117 pounds of synthetic marijuana in the trunk.  The driver also had about $5,000 in cash with him.

Officers seized the synthetic marijuana and the cash. Officers also seized a large amount of commercial packaging.

The driver faces 2nd degree felony charges for possession of the synthetic marijuana.
