Gunshots on a campus once again, this time at the North Harris campus of Lone Star Community College in Houston.
"It was just terrifying," said Southeast Texas native and Lone Star student Abbey McNeely.
McNeely says she was in class in the Digital Technology Center just before 1 p.m. when the Harris County Sheriff's Office says shots were fired near the library.
"I didn't hear anything. People in class were receiving text messages from their friends on campus. They said there was a shooting, get out of there," McNeely told 12 News in a phone interview.
McNeely says the real terror didn't start until she was stuck in the parking lot trying to leave campus.
"There's students running to the parking lot and swat guys getting their guns ready and I'm in my car, I was defenseless because I can't get out if anyone was there," McNeely said.
Authorities say they believe shots were fired following an argument between two men, one of whom had student ID.
Both men deputies identified as persons of interest were being treated at area hospitals under the watch of an armed guard.
A maintenance man was an innocent bystander shot in the leg and a woman was also transported to the hospital after suffering a medical condition.
McNeely says she may have been minutes away from dodging crossfire herself. She was thinking about leaving the building to grab lunch at the student center.
"I didn't leave class early because I wanted to work on my stuff and I'm glad I didn't,"
The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the identities of the persons of interest and any possible criminal charges against them will be released pending a thorough investigation.
