Four Beaumont Police officers were taken to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont Thursday afternoon after a routine traffic stop turned into a foot chase which led to accident.

Beaumont Police Spokesperson Officer Carol Riley says around 3:15 p.m. Thursday officers stopped the driver of a gray Buick that was heading southbound on MLK near Franklin. The passenger, Ronnie Bobino, 19, of Beaumont, ran from the vehicle. One of the officers chased after Bobino. The driver told an officer that Bobino ran because he had a gun.

Officers responded to assist. Two officers were hurt while chasing Bobino on foot.

Two officers in a marked patrol car responded to help and were involved in an accident at the corner of College and MLK. Their patrol car struck a red Ford Escort.

Officers were able to catch Bobino at the dead end of Milam St. in some grass near MLK. Officers said Bobino and a gun and marijuana.

Bobino was arrested for felony evading arrest/detention, unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Jefferson County jail.

Two of the injured officers were taken to Baptist Hospital by EMS. Two other officers and the driver of the red Escort were taken to the hospital by private car.

None of the injuries were life threatening.
