PN-G ISD, local law enforcement working on new safety plan

Posted: Updated:

A new safety plan is in the works for Port Neches-Groves ISD to protect it's students and employees.
at a board meeting Monday night board members approved the creation of a comprehensive safety plan.

The plan will be created with help from local law enforcement.

It's good news for some parents who have been concerned with the districts current safety plan.

"I think they need some construction changes. I wanted to address what I saw and hope I could get the ball rolling," Parent Tara Winn said.

Some pieces of the plan could mean adding another set of doors leading into a campus like the ones installed at the high school a year ago.

Or maybe reinforcing windows with bullet proof glass.

The district didn't want to confirm or deny potential changes in the interest of students safety.

There is no date on when the plan would be complete but the Groves City Marshall said they would have it ready as soon as possible.
