Police officers, sheriff's deputies and Department of Public Safety troopers are looking for two men who robbed a customer at gunpoint after he left the Wells Fargo Bank in Groves Wednesday morning.

The robbery happened around 10:10 a.m.  Police dispatchers received a call saying there was a robbery at the bank.  When officers arrived at the bank, they determined the bank was not robbed, but a customer who was followed from the bank was robbed.

Investigators say the victim left the bank located in the 4000 block of Twin City Highway near the intersection with Highway 73.  The robbers followed him to a convenience store, the Food Spot #2, and robbed him at gunpoint in the parking lot.  The robbers then fled in a silver KIA SUV.

A spokesperson for the Groves Police Department says the vehicle used in the robbery has been confirmed as one that was stolen in Houston.

The owner of the store, Farooq Sattar, says he has been robbed twice in the last week. Last Thursday, he says two masked gunman walked into his store, demanded money, then fled with $3,300.

Wednesday, Sattar says he was coming back to the store with $125 for his cash register when two men pulled up next to him and forced him to the ground.

"They opened the door and said 'Give me your money'," says Sattar, "Whatever they told me, I did. I gave them the bag, they went back to their car, and then they left.

Sattar says he watched the men drive across the street, through the Walgreen's parking lot, and then take off on Twin City Highway towards Highway 73.

"I was looking behind the car, memorizing the license plate number, then dialed 9-1-1," he says.

Groves police were able to capture the vehicle on surveillance video from the Walgreen's store.

At this time, they do not know if the two robberies are connected.

The license plate number of the car is BCZ-5558.

The men are considered armed and dangerous. Call Groves police if you have information on this crime.
