The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the investigation into a kidnapping that was reported Thursday morning in Beaumont.
Just after 5:20 a.m. officers were called to the Petro Truck Stop located in the 5400 block of Walden Road. A man, identified by Police as Ivan Battle, 45, of Houston, called 911 to report that his truck had been stolen and his friend kidnapped by a man armed with a handgun.
Battle told police he and a 33-year-old Hispanic female from San Antonio, were driving from Houston to Lake Charles to go to a casino. He said the two made a stop at the Petro Truck Stop in Beaumont to use the bathroom. While in the parking lot he said a man with a gun forced the woman to drive off.
Police describe the missing woman as 5'05", between 130 – 140 pounds and has shoulder length black hair. At the time of the alleged kidnapping, she was wearing blue jeans and a turquoise jacket.
The vehicle stolen is a 2008 Dodge 3500 dually, red in color, bearing Texas license plates 16GYJ9.
Officers say the suspect is a black male with a dark complexion, in his mid- thirties, about 5'10" – 6'0" tall weighing about 190 – 200 pounds.
A spokesperson for the Petro Truck Stop declined to speak to a KBMT reporter, but did say they have turned over all surveillance video to investigators.
Officers are asking people to be on the lookout for red Dodge truck and the female.
Anyone who sees the vehicle or the female is asked to call the Beaumont Police Department at 409-832-1234.
