Firefighters on the scene of a blaze in Vidor said neighbors told them they heard a loud boom just before smoke and flames began pouring out of the one-story home located at 1035 Calvary St.
The blaze was reported to dispatchers at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.
When firefighters arrived at the house they said there was heavy smoke and flames visible. Assistance was requested from the Little Cypress, McLewis and Bridge City fire departments.
At 3:27 p.m. firefighters reported the flames had been extinguished and mutual aid agencies were told they could stand down.
Neighbors said the man and wife who live at the house were not home at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The Red Cross was called to assist the homeowners.
