A house in Beaumont's north end is said to be a total loss following a Monday-morning house fire.

According to our News Partner the Beaumont Enterprise, the fire was caused by a 12-year-old playing with a lighter who accidentally set the couch on fire.

Dispatchers tell 12 News the fire was reported just after 9 a.m. at a home located at 3710 West Lynwood Drive.

Firefighters on the scene said the fire started in the living room and quickly spread to the rest of the home.  A firefighter told 12 News more information about the cause of the fire would be released later in the day.
