Posted: Updated:

A Vidor ISD student was injured Tuesday night after getting off of a Vidor ISD school bus.

District officials tell us the 12-year-old student was hit in the 1100 Block of Orange by a truck that was driving by as the student exited the bus.

He was transported to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth as a precaution.

Other students on the bus were elementary, middle and junior high students going home from Vidor ISD's ACE after school program.

No word on whether the driver will face charges.

Vidor ISD Superintendent Jay Killgo released the following statement regarding the accident: "This afternoon at 5:30 a Vidor middle school student was struck by a vehicle while exiting a school bus. The student sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital as a precaution. Other students on the bus were not harmed. Police and emergency personnel were on the scene and assisted the school district in managing the situation."
