Teen booked for north end shooting

Posted: Updated:

Beaumont police say a 16-year-old may be the triggerman in a north end shooting Tuesday afternoon.

Beaumont police officers and firefighters were called to the 3700 block of Steelton Avenue in north Beaumont after 911 dispatchers received a call about a shooting.  The call came into dispatch around 12:15 p.m.

When officers got to the scene they found one man with a gunshot wound.  The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital.  At 1:18 p.m. officers said the man was in stable condition.

Investigators said they believe the victim was in his car at an apartment building near the corner of Primrose and Steelton when he was shot.  The man then drove down the street to a family members house.  From there he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Officers say the victim was able to identify the shooter before he was taken to the hospital.

Tuesday afternoon the Beaumont Police Department notified 12 News that the teen turned himself in, gave a statement and was booked into the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Justice Center.
