Child dies at hospital after falling out of truck

A one-year-old died at a Beaumont hospital after falling out of a moving truck in Jasper County.

Trooper Stephanie Davis tells 12NewsNow.Com the accident happened just after 12 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 16 in Cougar Country (Buna.)

Trooper Davis says two kids were riding in a truck driven by their father, Steven Marks, 32, of Buna. The children, Marks' 1-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, were in the same seat and were wearing the same seatbelt. The 1-year-old fell out of the truck and it rolled over her.

The 1-year-old was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont where she died from her injuries.

The 2-year-old did not receive any injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
