A former Little Cypress Junior High School teacher is under investigation after being accused of having an improper relationship with a student at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School.

On Tuesday September 4, 2012, the Orange County Sheriff's Office received a call from the administration at the Little Cypress-Mauriceville I.S.D. concerning a reported improper relationship between educator and student.  A sheriff's office spokesperson says the alleged incident involves a student at Little Cypress- Mauriceville High School and an employee at the Little Cypress Junior High School.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division was contacted and investigators obtained information from school district officials and students about the alleged offense.

Authorities have not released the name of the accused former teacher.

No arrests have been made and the sheriff's office says no other information can be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD issued the following statement Tuesday morning:

The individual referred to as a Little Cypress Junior High employee by the Orange County Sheriff's Department release, is a former employee, having worked for the District only 16 days.

The teacher resigned after allegations of an improper relationship with a high school student were made. The Administration immediately began investigations and notified the Sheriff's Department as well as the State Board of Educator Certification. Both entities are conducting their own investigations.

Any additional information will come from the Orange County Sheriff's Department, since the person accused is no longer an employee of LCM CISD.
