Two people are dead as detectives with the Orange Police Department piece together just what happened Saturday night.

Investigators say around 10 p.m. officers were called to the Fox Run Apartments in the 2600 block of Allie Payne Road in north Orange.

A statement issued Sunday by the Orange Police Department says when officers arrived they found two people had been shot.

Police say Kendrick Dunlap, 18,  had a gunshot wound to the chest.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Judge Derry Dunn.

Desean Sandles, 21, had sustained what witnesses told police is a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.  Emergency medical personnel from Acadian Ambulance Service and first responder personnel from the Orange Fire Department administered emergency first aid at the scene. Sandles was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth by medical helicopter.

Officials confirmed Monday Sandles died from his injuries.

Police have not released any other details of the shooting.
