
Agustin Garfias joined KBMT 12 as a general assignment reporter in February 2012. He was born and raised in Central East Texas near Tyler.
Agustin graduated from Mabank High School and attended the University of North Texas in Denton where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast News and Political Science. Go Mean Green! Agustin was named the Outstanding Broadcast Student during his last semester at UNT and is a proud member of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Incorporated.
In college Agustin interned at our sister station, KYTX-TV in Tyler as part of a special project with the Mayborn School of Journalism. In his final year at the university he was a reporter, anchor, and associate producer for the DCTV newscast NT Daily TV. He covered the first death at an Occupy Movement camp in North Texas.
