People who live in a north-end neighborhood of Beaumont woke up Wednesday to deputies hauling away prescription meds, marijuana and two men officers say were selling drugs.
Just before 7 a.m. the Jefferson County Narcotics task Force and the Sheriff's Office SWAT team executed a search warrant issued by Judge Bob Wortham. When deputies arrived at the house, located at 4010 Agnes (near the corner of Gill and Agnes Streets) they found it was fortified with burglar bars. The SWAT team pulled off the bars on the back door using a truck in order to get into the house. Once inside, investigators say they found large quantities of illegal drugs, including:
K-2 Spice (Synthetic marijuana) including approximately 500 packets packaged for retail sale. Two pounds of bulk K-2 was found in Ziploc freezer bags.
5.5 pounds of high grade hydroponic marijuana, much of it already packaged for resale.
10 pounds of regular marijuana
770 dose units of Xanex
55 dose units of Dilaudid
35 dose units of Hydrocodone
Two men were arrested at the house. A statement issued by the Sheriff's Office says the men will be charged with felony possession of drugs. The men have not yet been arraigned.
The drugs seized have a street value estimated at $100,000.
The investigation began as the result of numerous complaints from citizens.
