Argument over shrimp leaves two shot

Posted: Updated:

Beaumont police are investigating a shooting in the city's Pear Orchard neighborhood.

Officials were called to the Starcrest Apartments located in the 3200 block of Elmira just after 2 p.m.  for two shooting victims.
They say two women, one 23 and the other 70, got into an argument. Police the argument started over shrimp, but Beaumont police say the argument was actually over shrimp. They say the older woman left and came back with a small caliber handgun.

Formal charges of aggravated assault may be filed against the 70-year-old once the victim gives a formal statement.
The two began to scuffle and both were shot and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two women were not related.
