Better Business Bureau warns of new scam

Posted: Updated:

A scam targeting the Better Business Bureau is circulating in emails all across the area.

An e-mail is entitled "complaint from your customers."  The Better Business Bureau says the email is fake and that you should ignore it, not open it and delete it immediately.

The e-mails have return addresses that the BBB. does not use and contain a link to a non-BBB web site.

"The best way for southeast Texas to be aware a complaint number from our office starts with 9006 and these complaints numbers have weird numbers, 9006 is southeast Texas," says Debbie Bridgeman with the Better Business Bureau.

If you have already clicked on a link in the email run a full virus scan of your computer.

The BBB is working with law enforcement to figure out the source of the email and stop it from spreading.
